Thrive Group is on the lookout for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for an engineering firm that specialises in addressing manufacturing challenges within the automotive and industrial sectors. Our client is experiencing rapid growth and urgently needs a skilled Machine Design Engineer with expertise in developing engineering solutions for manufacturing automation.

Key Responsibilities

Design automated assembly machines, semi-automated work cells, and manual tooling aids for production equipment.

Analyse customer needs, create specifications, and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team to define the scope, design, and documentation for manufacturing equipment.

Support, debug, troubleshoot, and assist with integration activities.

Analyse, specify, and select commercial components.

Evaluate strength and cycle time requirements.

Review and prepare drawing documentation.

Communicate effectively with team members across various departments and suppliers.

Follow all health and safety regulations and procedures.

Candidate Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; HNC or Apprenticeship with relevant industry experience.

Proven experience in designing machines and solutions for automated production processes from concept to completion.

Proficient in creating engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and technical documents using Solid Works.

Strong project planning and management skills.

Ability to present designs effectively to customers.

Familiarity with current British Standards.

Experience in preparing Bills of Materials (BOM).

Strong research skills in design, operations, and performance of equipment and systems.

Creative ability to develop innovative and effective design solutions.

Strong systematic problem-solving skills.
