Job Purpose

To manage and improve the performance of the site production and quality system by supporting thew Quality Manager in accordance with the annual Operations and Quality objectives, goals, strategies & measures (OGSM).

Task & Accountabilities

  • Ensure compliance with all Safety, Health and Environmental procedures. Ensuring that all company HS&E policies and procedures are personally adhered to taking a ‘no walk past’ approach.
  • An active member of the Quality team who can lead by example as a change agent with strong coordination, communication and coaching skills.
  • Manage the direct reporting of Annealing House employees, including work priorities, annual personal development planning and training.
  • Able to contribute and drive forward the Bradford site and also contribute to the EMEIA regional Quality vision at local level, cascading objectives, goals, strategies, measures (OGSM) into the site and individual reports through PPM
  • Clearly understand internal / external customer quality requirements, including inspection and test certification, and develop suitable value driven metrics to verify performance improvements.
  • Develop current ISO9001 systems and train employees on system requirements along with other  relevant certifications.
  • Carry out full analysis and ability to facilitate the resolution of Quality problems through the wider cross functional team involvement via suitable tools such as 8D problem solving and lean six sigma methodologies as appropriate.
  • Coordinate customer & external audit / inspection body accreditation and relationships.

Planning & Organising         

Plan Quality activities in accordance with overall priorities as identified and communicated by the Plant & Quality Manager (as per above).

Internal & External Relationships

  • Bradford Plant Management team members
  • UK Quality representatives at other sites
  • Global Quality team members (in UK & outside)
  • External customer representatives
  • Internal & External auditors / inspection bodies

A proactive approach is essential for this role, as is the ability to work well with the existing staff and contractors.  You will have a proactive communicative approach to the role, with good written and verbal communication skills.

Essential

  • What ‘world class quality’ looks like in a manufacturing company
  • Practical knowledge of implementing and improving quality management systems.           

Desirable

  • Degree qualified in engineering
  • Formal professional qualification in a Quality discipline.
  • Metal material knowledge.
  • Qualification in Metallurgy

Skills ‘Need to be able to’

Essential

  • Use of Quality tools and techniques such as problem solving, FMEA, control plans.
  • Practical experience of internal and external lead audit.
  • Adapt to and lead others through change.         

Desirable

  • Practiced six sigma or equivalent.
  • Presentation & report writing (verbal and written)

Experience ‘Need to have had experience in’         

Essential

  • Experience quality engineer position or similar
  • Working with others to improve quality in similar working environments.  Desirable
  • Working in wire industry or similar.
