Cottage Stores is an independent Post Office and Local Store. They offer a range of services to the local community, such as foreign currency exchange, local goods and others. 

Duties/Role:

  • Maintain and update the store catalogue system and in person assets
  • Prepare a stock inventory on EPOS system when new stock arrives.
  • Update EPOS system. Add stock control to EPOS.
  • Identify trends in sales. Create and manage a system to review highest selling and lowest selling good in order to optimise sales
  • Monitor CCTV system.
  • Help to manage shop when others are away or on breaks etc.
  • Learn/observe basics of Post Office operations (front desk and back desk)

Desirable Skills:

  • Confident in their ability to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Basic understanding in Excel and Data Management 

Personal Qualities:

  • Team player, confident in their own ability, eager to learn and can-do attitude

Entry Requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
