Claims Handler - Personal Injury

Reed is recruiting on behalf of an ambitious law firm dedicated to delivering exceptional commercial services based in Bradford. Our client is seeking a junior-level pre-litigation Claims Handler to join their Defendant Personal Injury team. This role is ideal for a law graduate interested in Personal Injury or an existing Claims Handler with experience in defendant PI or RTA.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Conduct the defence of EL/PL claims for Personal Injury from the initiation of the claim up to, but not including, litigation, preferably with a retail focus
  • Utilise the MOJ EL/PL Portal effectively
  • Communicate with opponents, experts, statutory bodies, and clients via email, telephone, and in writing
  • Negotiate issues of liability and quantum
  • Pursue the recovery of client’s losses from third parties, where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate financial, reserve, and risk management information on all claims
  • Comply with internal, client, and procedural protocols
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring high standards of client care at all times
  • Provide excellent customer service to litigants in person
  • Stay updated with relevant legislation and practice through regular training

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role
  • Law degree or equivalent educational background, particularly with an interest in Personal Injury
  • Experience in defendant Personal Injury or RTA is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and strong IT skills
  • Ability to work methodologically and in a process-driven manner
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
  • Must be able to carry out duties in accordance with SRA/Law Society Regulations
