Veritas Education is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in the Bradford area to recruit a Pastoral / Behaviour Support Officer. This is a full-time position with an immediate start, offering an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student welfare and conduct.

Role Overview:

As a Pastoral / Behaviour Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students' social, emotional, and behavioural needs. You will work closely with the pastoral team, SENCO, and senior leadership to promote positive behaviour, engagement, and student well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with behavioural, social, and emotional challenges to ensure they remain engaged in learning.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions in line with school policies.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students to promote positive attitudes and resilience.
  • Work alongside the safeguarding and pastoral teams to monitor and improve student well-being.
  • Liaise with staff, parents, and external agencies to provide tailored support for students.
  • Assist in the implementation of behaviour action plans and restorative approaches.
  • Record and report on student behaviour, progress, and pastoral concerns.
Requirements:
  • Experience working in a school, youth work, or similar pastoral/behaviour support role.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management strategies, and student welfare.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
  • A valid DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
