Information about the Role:

Working as a Support Worker at Burger Court your duties will include the following:

  • Providing physical support which may include helping with household tasks and personal care.
  • Providing emotional support for an individual and at times their families.
  • Maintain the hygiene, dignity, health and safety of service users at all times.
  • Encouraging and supporting the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
  • Teaching life skills, such as shopping, using public transport and paying for bills.
  • Working with other healthcare professionals to ensure that all care needs meet the highest possible standards.
  • Assist in the design and administration of an evaluation of the care standards and care service provision.
  • If applicable, assist in the administration of medication.

Information about the Service:

Burger Court in Bradford is a 17-bedded residential home for people with a diagnosis of mental health / learning disability conditions. Most people we care for are working age.

Residents are often referred to us with a history of schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder, personality disorder, depression, bipolar disorder or complex trauma.

Some of our residents also have additional diagnoses such as Korsakoff’s or Huntington’s disease with psychosis, and physical conditions such as epilepsy or diabetes.

Necessary Experience or Qualifications to work as a Support worker:

  • Previous experience working as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Domiciliary Carer or Senior preferred.
  • Caring, kind and considerate.
  • Passionate about making a difference in someone else’s life.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able handle sometimes challenging situations.
  • Fun, energetic and able to build relationships with many different people.
