Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Supported Housing Officer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing essential housing-related support and intensive housing management to our service users.

Key Responsibilities:

Support Client Needs: Provide practical and emotional support to service users, assisting them in developing life skills and enabling them to transition into independent accommodations.

Risk Assessments: Carry out thorough risk assessments leading to effective management plans, monitoring and reviewing these plans regularly to manage risks efficiently.

Individualised Support Packages: Plan and deliver tailored support packages aimed at meeting individual service user's needs, promoting tenancy readiness.'

Communication and Advocacy: Act as an advocate for service users during external appointments like GPs, substance support services, and health clinics; facilitate clear communication among stakeholders to prevent duplication or oversight of support efforts.

Community Engagement: Encourage service user's participation in activities such as voluntary work, training programs, educational initiatives, and employment opportunities to foster personal growth.

Additional Duties:

Manage daily operations of Supported Tenancies and other Services under supervisory guidance.

Ensure effective resource allocation, asset maintenance, and financial accountability.

Work collaboratively with the Housing Options service and other landlords to secure long-term accommodations for service users.

Collaborate with the Floating Support Team regarding rehousing options and application support.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

Understanding of Housing Issues: Strong knowledge of housing-related issues affecting vulnerable populations.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including service users and external agencies.

Flexibility: Willingness to work flexibly, including covering for colleagues during holidays and sickness, sometimes at short notice.

Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively within a team, supervising support staff and assisting in the induction of new employees.

Proactive Approach: Demonstrated initiative in delivering support services and managing risks effectively.

Experience and Knowledge:

Housing Management Experience: Experience in housing-related support and intensive housing management is preferred.

Support Planning: Familiarity with needs assessments, support plans, and review processes to meet the needs of service users.

Mental Health Experience: Experience of working with individuals who present with mental health problems.

Addiction Awareness: Experience of working with people who have addition issues.

Safety Protocols: Knowledge of health and safety policies, including conducting inspections and promoting safety among service users.
