Job Title: Transport Planner
Location: Bradford
Salary: £28k - £32k per year

About the Role
Our client is looking for an organised and proactive Transport Planner to join their team and ensure the smooth, efficient, and cost-effective transportation of goods and services. You’ll play a key role in route planning, vehicle scheduling, compliance, and communication with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and optimize daily/weekly transport schedules and routes based on demand, capacity, and cost-efficiency.
- Allocate vehicles and drivers according to availability, legal driving hours, and operational requirements.
- Monitor and track deliveries to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Liaise with drivers, warehouse teams, and customers to manage changes or delays.
- Maintain up-to-date records of transport activities, incidents, and compliance documents.
- Analyse transport data and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
- Ensure all transport operations comply with relevant legislation, health and safety, and environmental standards
- Maintain up to date records in the transport management system ( Syrinx) and prepare jobs for invoicing
- Raise movement orders for plant machinery, ensuring movement orders are in place prior to delivery of the products that fall within STGO.
Requirements
- Proven experience in transport/logistics planning or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of transport regulations, including drivers’ hours and vehicle compliance.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with transport planning software and MS Office.
- Effective communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to fast-paced environments.
- Good geographical knowledge of the UK
- Experience working in a fast paced and pressured environment
- Able to meet strict deadlines
Desirable
- Knowledge of route optimization tools (e.g., Paragon, SAP TM, Fleetmatics).
- CPC qualification or equivalent.
- Experience in working within FMCG, retail, or distribution sectors.
