We are currently supporting them to hire an experienced Transport Planner to be based near Hatfield Peverel. Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and allocate all Pallet Network consignments and customer collections to the local fleet, ensuring optimal utilisation and profitability, while adhering to the constraints of cargo and vehicle availability, customer needs, and legal regulations.
- Ensure a strong understanding of the company's policies, procedures, and vision, and how the Transport and Fleet Departments contribute and comply with these.
- Monitor adherence to drivers' hours and working time regulations, ensuring accurate record-keeping in line with legal requirements.
- Ensure that vehicle and driver cards are downloaded correctly as per company procedures.
- Provide a professional and welcoming Driver Reception service, assisting drivers with vehicle key allocations and manifest preparation until the shift commences.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in Pallet Network route planning, with a solid understanding of general haulage route planning.
- Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle weights, legal limits, drivers' hours, and working time directive regulations, as well as road traffic laws and vehicle costs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work independently, remain calm under pressure, and collaborate effectively within a team.
- GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics and English, along with manual handling and fire safety training.
- A flexible approach to working hours is essential.
