The role involves providing transport planning and incident response services on a 4 on/4 off rota, covering both days and nights. The planner will be responsible for routing and planning tankers and vehicles, ensuring compliance with Drivers Hours regulations, handling scheduling and service delivery queries, and providing advice to clients. The role requires knowledge of transport legislation, good computer skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Key Skills and Experience: The ideal candidate should have experience in transport operations and scheduling, as well as knowledge of Drivers Hours legislation. Incident management experience is also preferred. Other important skills include attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, effective communication, and the ability to think clearly under pressure.

I am working with a fast-paced, fast-growing business who are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join the team.

The essence of this role is to provide a transport planning and incident response service on a 4 on/4 off rota covering days and nights. During the shift the normal working hours will be office-based; and the out of hours service will be home based (occasionally this may require going into the office).

Core duties

  • Routing and planning of tankers and vehicles
  • Ensure that planning and routing takes account of Drivers Hours regulations
  • Handle scheduling and service delivery queries from drivers
  • Ensure suitability of vehicles for geographical and topographical locations.
  • Support sales team with quotations and delivery advice
  • Provide advice to clients with regards to best use of resources, and most suitable responses to their emergency requests when dealing with requests Out of Hours.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Transport Operations and scheduling and knowledge of Drivers Hours legislation is necessary.
  • Incident Management experience is ideal.
  • Good attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Good professional communications with stakeholders at all levels
  • Calm and clear thinking under pressure
