Accountant - 3 Month Contract

Our client is seeking an experienced Accountant with a strong background in the construction sector. The ideal candidate will manage financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry-specific standards. This role is critical in supporting our client's continued growth and delivering financial insight for effective decision-making.

This is a temporary contract role that will be required for up to 3 months.

Accountant - 3 Month Contract

Benefits:

• Day rate equivalent of up to £70,000

Accountant - 3 Month Contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, payments, and reconciliations.
• Prepare financial statements, budgets, and management accounts.
• Oversee project costing, ensuring correct allocation of expenses to construction projects.
• Maintain VAT, CIS, and payroll compliance.
• Liaise with project managers to monitor financial performance and cost tracking.
• Handle monthly cash flow forecasting and variance analysis.
• Provide financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
• Assist with year-end audit preparation and statutory accounts.

Accountant - 3 Month Contract

Required Experience & Skills:

• Essential: Previous accounting experience in the construction industry.
• Professional qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or part-qualified with significant industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) and VAT within construction.
• Excellent skills in financial software (Sage/QuickBooks or similar) and advanced Excel.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work to deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with internal teams and external suppliers.

Desirable:

• Experience with project-based accounting and cost management.
• Familiarity with construction contracts and sub-contractor accounting.
