Do you have experience with Linux?

My clients seeking a dedicated Systems Administrator with a strong focus on Linux to ensure the efficient running of all Linux servers, software, and network infrastructure. This role also includes PC support, cover for Windows System Administration, and administration for the telephony system. You will be a key player in supporting the IT department in all aspects of communications and disaster recovery.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Proactively manage and optimize the performance of Linux servers.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux software and network infrastructure.
  • Ensure data backups are performed according to the schedule.
  • Maintain Remote Access systems and support remote users.
  • Perform administrative tasks for external systems as required.
  • Monitor and maintain network performance, diagnosing and fixing incidents.
  • Assist with major incident handling and offer ideas for team improvement.
  • Support users in the use of computer equipment and MS Office applications.
  • Maintain the telephone system to ensure its availability and efficiency.
  • Document support procedures and system configurations.
  • Provide user support through the service desk.
  • Stay updated with security patches and ensure systems are appropriately updated.
  • Diagnose system errors and coordinate with programmers when necessary.
  • Recommend and install new IT equipment as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in Linux System Administration.
  • Familiarity with Windows System Administration.
  • Strong network support experience.
  • Proficiency in using system monitoring tools.
  • Desirable experience with network printers.
  • Good understanding of networking, including TCP/IP.
  • Ability to work independently to tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a team player with a flexible approach.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills to rapidly resolve technical issues.
