We are seeking experienced, time-served Mechanical Fitters to be based from a West Horndon branch, covering a variety of sites and installations across the UK, primarily in the Southeast. This role involves maintaining, repairing, and overhauling equipment such as pumps, turbines, valves, gearboxes, conveyors, and coolers.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Perform mechanical maintenance using measuring equipment like micrometres, DTI’s, and alignment tooling.
  • Undertake and complete Workshop and Field Service activities, including reporting detailing findings, condition assessments, critical tolerances, actions taken, and recommendations.
  • Communicate on a technical level both verbally and in writing with peers and customers.
  • Conduct fault finding and diagnosis of mechanical equipment, focusing on an array of rotating machines, balance of plant, and auxiliary systems.
  • Carry out defect repairs and routine maintenance on mechanical equipment for commercial and heavy industry machinery, ensuring installations meet manufacturer standards and legislative requirements.
  • Work independently to identify and resolve faults on mechanical systems.
  • Assist and lead planned projects and outages as directed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Full driving license, preferably clean.
  • Experience in fault finding, repair, installation, and commissioning.
  • Good customer service skills and a high level of fitness due to the physical demands of the job.
  • Ability to pass security clearances and maintain a flexible and positive outlook.
  • Availability for call outs (1 in 5) and flexibility to work away from home when needed.
  • Relevant knowledge, training, and experience within heavy engineering sectors.
  • Mechanical qualifications such as ONC & HNC, NVQ, or equivalent.
