ABOUT THE POSITIONThis is a high-profile Regional Finance Director (FD) opportunity for a significant, growing, and profitable business unit of a UK PLC. As the Regional FD, you will be an integral part of the Regional Management Team. You will need to support the business in delivering its strategy, ensuring that financial standards and policies are followed, and effectively lead and develop the finance function to ensure that suitable cost control and reporting is in place on contracts. You will provide an important 'voice' on the Senior Management Team about future strategy and risk.
Reporting to the Business Unit Managing Director and with a 'dotted' functional reporting line to the Divisional Finance Director. The role will be expected to form a close partnership with the Commercial Director and will be expected to work proactively across all projects and functions to help drive and continuously improve the performance of the Business Unit. The aim is to drive a further step change in performance and to maintain an industry leading focus.
The role will be key to future succession planning into a big Divisional Finance Director role.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- For this Regional Finance Director position in the Central and West region, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with significant post qualification experience in leading a finance function
- Experience from a construction/ infrastructure background whilst desirable is not essential. Experience in a contracting services business will be essential with the successful delivery of projects and contracts which could be across a broad spectrum of market sectors, for example, facilities management, building maintenance & engineering
- Experience of working for a large group will also be important
- The role requires an experienced FD who has the strength of character to challenge whilst being able to do so in a collegiate and considered manner and is capable of influencing at all levels and working closely with the business
- As well as being contractually aware, you need to demonstrate a strong commercial acumen and the ability to contribute to strategic discussions and support the long-term growth potential
- You must be able to lead and inspire as well as manage people and have the ability to drive a high-performance culture
- A balance of finance skills, with the view as potential FD successor is essential
- They offer a hybrid, flexible working arrangement. You will need to be in the office(s) 2-3-days a week and be able to travel across the Central and West region with a slight preference for a Midlands location
