Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Senior Modern Slavery Accommodation Advocate based in the Black Country area.

The Senior Modern Slavery Accommodation Advocate provides effective day to day operational support and supervision to a team of refuge-based Modern Slavery Advocates. Overseeing all refuge cases, they are responsible for the health and safety of all accommodation sites. Reporting back to the Deputy Head of Service and to the Head of Service on a regular basis and ensuring provision of a supportive and caring environment. Enabling service users to achieve their desired level of self-sufficiency and integration into the community. The candidate needs to be able to work in a fast-paced work environment, build partnerships with relevant organisations and respond to the on-call support service on a rota basis.

This is a full-time, 37.5 hours (9am- 5pm Mon - Fri) permanent role and offering a salary of £29,267 - £33,281.98

Full driving license and access to own vehicle is required for this position.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide management in the absence of the Head of Service and Deputy Head of Service, support, supervision, advice and guidance to allocated refuge staff, students and volunteers.
  • Ensure that the refuge team delivers timely and risk managed services to potential victims of trafficking and modern slavery, by gathering accurate information from the victim.
  • Manage new referrals from the Salvation Army, assessing initial risk, allocating to the Modern Slavery Advocates, updating systems and ensuring that the team are meeting key performance indicators within time-frames.
  • Oversee all accommodation cases, delivering an effective system of regular contact, care and support to high risk complex needs victims of national and international human trafficking/modern slavery, promoting confidence, independence and safety to reduce the risk of being re-trafficked.
  • Work closely with the finance team, updating the weekly subsistence payments
  • Attend relevant partner meetings and work closely with other services, creating the best outcomes for victims.
  • Advocate for clients awaiting their conclusive grounds decision from the National Referral Mechanism (NRM).
  • Provide one-to-one information and support to clients on a range of rights to meet victim entitlements under Article 12 of The Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking of Human Beings (ECAT).
  • Deal with any conflicts that may arise as a result of living within refuge or NASS accommodation, in accordance with policies and procedures and in line with the Immigration & Asylum Act, reporting any concerns.
  • Ensure that case management systems are accurately completed in accordance with policy and procedures and assist with producing monthly performance reports within time-frames stipulated by the Salvation Army.
  • Attend all meetings and training as required, attend monthly supervision sessions and appraisals and participate in performance management processes within agreed timescale.
  • Reporting to the service manager in line with the contract/service plan ensure effective communication across all services and ensure that the service manager is informed at all times of any issues.

Person Specification

  • Degree educated or equivalent IDVA/ISVA
  • A recognised qualification in law/social work/management
  • Experiencing of working within a needs-led service undertaking risk and needs assessment and support planning.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults and children, acknowledging safeguarding concerns
  • Experience of managing complex casework, including issues such as child abuse, mental health, substance abuse, working with trauma in adults and children and crisis intervention.
  • Experience of working within a supportive setting for vulnerable people, homelessness/destitution.
  • Experience of supervising staff, students or volunteers.
  • Experience of financial management and accurate data recording.

Role is subject to DBS check at the relevant level.
