Purchasing Manager (Perm and Temp)West Midlands£40 - 45,000 + benefitsOur client is a £20m International Manufacturer with operations in the West Midlands and the US, seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager for a high-profile role.Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for all purchasing policies and procedures and ensuring necessary inventory levels for effective operations. This will include:

  • Daily purchasing activities, including placing purchase orders, monitoring suppliers and service demands through the SAP MRP system, monitoring deliveries and dealing with any discrepancies.
  • Identifying and visiting new suppliers for current and new products, ensuring regular price comparisons and maintain strong working relationships with the supplier base and negotiating prices.
  • Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications and where required follow the SCAR process
  • Assist finance with regular checks of supplier invoices against purchase orders in a timely manner.
  • Category 1 & 2 suppliers listing, ensuring the relevant Quality Certificates are available, where required
  • Reviewing and completing supplier audits on Category 1 suppliers, as laid down in the quality procedure
  • Work closely with the Production Controller and Warehouse Controller, to ensure disciplined approach to stock control and storage conditions and have a significant input to the quarterly stock takes
  • Organising the shipping for the delivery of spare parts and service department requirements, including producing exports documents for non-UK/EU shipments, monitoring and tracking each shipment
  • Assist R&D in the procurement of both "off the shelf" and bespoke components
  • Other ad hoc tasks, working within the procedures in the company's Quality Management System

This role requires an experienced Purchasing Manager / Purchasing professional, ideally with a background in Manufacturing, although this is not essential. Key will be an ability to deal with multiple projects and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and colleagues. Permanent and temporary applicants should apply.
