Accounts Assistant Bridgwater, Somerset£22,500 - £25,500 per annum
Our client, a thriving and rapidly expanding company based in Somerset, is seeking a talented and motivated Accounts Assistant to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.
As the Accounts Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of this growing business, assisting the wider team and senior management with accounting tasks like managing purchase and sales ledgers, bank reconciliation, payroll, and general administration.
The responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including sales and expense invoices.
- Support daily financial operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations.
- Review, report, and chase the settlement of outstanding invoices to ensure timely receipt of payments.
- Reconcile bank statements with internal financial records to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
- Support the preparation and filing of monthly payroll, year-end accounts, monthly returns to HMRC and issue statements.
- Compile quarterly VAT returns to support submission by external accountants.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns for filing or ready for submission by external accountants.
- Liaise with external organisations, suppliers and clients.
- Perform general office administration duties and provide ad hoc support to the Finance Team and Senior Management as required.
The candidate:
- Demonstrated experience in a comparable accounts support position.
- Holds an AAT qualification or possesses equivalent professional experience.
- Proficient in Xero or similar accounting software, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Exhibits a diligent and enthusiastic approach to all tasks, complemented by strong attention to detail and exceptional organisational abilities.
