Commercial Manager

Description & Background:

We are seeking a Commercial Manager for Hinkley Point C, the UK's first new build nuclear power station in a generation. As a key advisor to the Commercial Director, you will provide strategic commercial leadership on all project matters while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This role is critical in maintaining profitable business relationships and managing commercial risks within this prestigious nuclear construction project.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the Commercial Team while maintaining high standards and clear objectives
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to Project Management team on day-to-day risks
  • Prepare monthly budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports detailing P&L against forecast
  • Review and negotiate contracts to ensure balanced business relationships without undue risk
  • Manage strategic and operational risk monitoring across all projects
  • Chair commercial meetings and provide guidance on best practices
  • Review ITB documents and perform quantitative analysis of construction requirements
  • Ensure compliance with company commercial policies and procedures
  • Manage procurement and pre-qualification of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Validate and negotiate final account applications and contractor payments
  • Establish effective working relationships with all project team members

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree Qualified or Qualified by Extensive Experience
  • BSc Hons Quantity Surveying
  • Relevant professional accreditation (desirable)
  • Track record in complex environments, ideally within Nuclear Energy sector
  • Experience in administering NEC Suite of Contracts
  • Proven experience in commercial leadership roles
