We have an opportunity for an employment solicitor or CILEX to join a small team for up to one year to deal with both contentious and non-contentious employment matters on a full or part time basis.

This is a unique opportunity for a junior employment lawyer to undertake a diverse range of advice in the public sector and they will be able to develop their skills with the support and guidance of senior lawyers.

The Job:

  • Provide high level legal and property-related advice to Members and senior officers covering property, housing and local government law.
  • Act for the Council in the progression of complex property matters relating to the Council’s land holdings to include, without limitation, disposals and acquisitions, a variety of matters falling within the Housing Acts and the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954, the devolution of Council property assets, disposals at an undervalue, overage provisions and options and the Council’s powers relating to the same.
  • There will be a requirement to work under pressure and to tight timescales to support the delivery of the Council’s priority capital receipts, revenue savings and statutory requirements.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.
  • Experience of Local Government law and practice, as this assists with the provision of a legal service to client departments and committees
