About the Role:Hinkley Point C, the UK's first new-build nuclear power station in a generation, plays a critical role in achieving the UK's NetZero targets. We are looking for a dedicated Mechanical Project Engineer to join the team working on this prestigious project. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a technically complex project, ensuring safety, quality, time, and cost targets are met.

As a Project Engineer, you will support the effective delivery of activities, ensuring they align with the overall programme execution plan (PEP). You will manage relationships with stakeholders and oversee the progress of the schedule, addressing risks and resolving issues as they arise. A strong work ethic, commitment to safety and quality, and a proactive attitude are essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure contract activities are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Develop strategies and plans for project execution in line with the overall programme.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and manage progress against milestones.
  • Identify and manage risks, resolving issues and escalating where necessary.
  • Drive continuous improvement and knowledge capture.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with project team members.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.

Key Deliverables:

  • Provide engineering and management resources to supervise and support project operations.
  • Implement efficient and profitable management of project activities.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and improve operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with design specifications, standards, and regulations.
  • Monitor commercial performance and assist in final account preparation.
  • Maintain effective administration, ensuring project files and paperwork are up-to-date.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • ONC level in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (preferred HNC).
  • Experience in project management within complex environments, ideally the Nuclear Energy sector.
  • Experience working with qualified equipment and services.
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety culture and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong skills in project management, financial management, and change management.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in the design, manufacturing, and installation of mechanical equipment (Piped Systems, HVAC, Drainage, Heating & Cooling).
  • Understanding of nuclear quality assurance processes.
  • Experience on heavily unionised sites and working with Trade Union representatives.
