We are working with a local authority who are looking for a Project Manager to support change in the council’s Homelessness Service.

This role will encompass a service redesign; a recruitment drive to build the required team; and changes to ways of working that optimise and improve triage processes and prevent homelessness.

Location: Southwest based Local Authority

Set-up: Hybrid / Remote

Duration: Initial 5-month contract

Hours: Full-time position

Purpose of the job:

The appointed project manager will be responsible for translating a set of consultant's recommendations into a deliverable project that will ultimately reduce the number of people being placed into temporary accommodation in the council

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage project budgets in accordance with the council’s financial procedures and regulations; managing actual and forecast expenditure to within agreed tolerances and reporting variances to the Project Board as necessary
  • Establish and maintain appropriate governance structures to support and enable delivery, integrated with other existing portfolio, programme and business decision-making bodies as appropriate
  • Monitor and manage project resources, forecasting future requirements using the project plan and ensuring suitable budget is built into the project business case

Requirements:

  • Experience in a Project Manager (or equivalent) role within a change environment with detailed knowledge of principles, methods, techniques & tools associated with the project lifecycle and how to apply them to best effect and measurable benefit
  • Local Government experience required for initial shortlisting, then thereafter at the client’s discretion
