A market-leading Specialist Insurance Company is looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Underwriter to support the continued growth of their Commercial Underwriting team.

They seek a motivated and ambitious individual who is keen to progress their insurance career with a well-regarded Insurer.

This is a key role which will support the growth of the trading team focusing on larger and more complex property and casualty risks.

The role will primarily focus on developing broker and insurer accounts in line with underwriting appetite by reviewing, quoting, and developing Gross Written Premiums.

Key responsibilities:

  • Meeting strategic growth plans through writing profitable New Business and Renewals, achieving set targets.
  • Support the Head of Underwriting in the development of broker and insurer accounts.
  • Act as the technical referral point for scheme business and cascade technical expertise to other parts of the business.
  • Lead on Property Owners portfolio New Business.
  • Support Commercial Combined existing business and Renewals.
  • Work closely with our Key Account Managers and Underwriting Service Department to grow and manage broker relations.
  • Pro-actively identify areas of opportunity, making recommendations to the Head of Underwriting, contributing to the defined strategy.
  • Provide support to the Underwriting Service Department referrals when required.

Key Skills/Experience Required:

  • Ideally Dip CII or progress towards completion
  • Significant relevant experience of the commercial insurance industry with proven Property and Casualty underwriting knowledge.
  • Proven track record of achieving targets through writing new business and securing renewals in both Property and Casualty.
  • Experience of influencing senior stakeholders within underwriting & wider business areas.
  • Flexibility and resilience - the ability to multitask and turn deadlines around quickly.
  • Commercial awareness and excellent communication skills.

Salary/Benefits Information:

  • Salary up to £46,000 depending on experience.
