We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join our global client’s team based in Brierley Hill, West Midlands. This growing company are looking for an Engineering manager to lead their Engineering team in the delivery of multiple new products.

The roles and responsibilities of an Engineering Manager:

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance work culture.
  • Provide coaching, career development, and regular feedback to direct reports.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Ensure the work of the engineering team is focused on delivering each product’s requirements to the relevant product brief.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables
  • Ensure engineering projects are delivered on time and on budget
  • Drive the team to take ownership of their individual project plans, timelines, and priorities to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to project execution.
  • Manage Capital Expenditure requests in line with programme budgets
  • Coordinate the tracking of resource allocation across multiple projects
  • Manage contractor engineering resource
  • Act as the primary liaison between engineering and other departments, including sales and operations.
  • Communicate project status, technical challenges, and progress to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of open communication, feedback, and problem-solving within the engineering team.
  • Liaise with several third-party suppliers, ensuring service delivery requirements are met
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Promote and enforce strong engineering discipline, including design reviews, testing, and documentation.

Requirements of the Engineering Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Electronics Engineering. A master’s degree would be beneficial.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment focused on product development and introduction
  • Proven track record of successfully leading technical teams and engineering projects
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in mechanical engineering. Mechatronics experience desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
