Job Opportunity: Production Shift Manager (Brighouse)

Location:Brighouse

Hours:Full Time - 6pm to 3am shift

Salary:£40,000 - £45,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee production output during the shift, potentially across multiple departments, ensuring that daily targets are met by the team.
  • Manage stock levels within the department to ensure smooth operation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including adherence to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and use of appropriate PPE.
  • Maintain high standards of production quality, conducting audits, and managing remakes as necessary.
  • Plan daily schedules, organize staff resources, and escalate any issues that may arise during the shift.
  • Monitor and validate downtime, ensuring any occurrences are justified.
  • Collect, report, and expedite critical data related to labour, machines, materials, and line balancing, reporting issues to the line manager as required.
  • Provide live reports on achievements, outputs, and any deviations from goals and targets.
  • Conduct performance reviews with staff, manage returns to work, and report any absence issues to supervisors on a daily basis.
  • Participate in daily production and shift handover meetings, escalating urgent orders and checking 1st and 2nd runs.
  • Manage the training matrix, regularly reviewing and arranging cross-training to ensure a fully flexible workforce.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating the right behaviors and attitudes at all times.
  • Undertake any other reasonable management tasks as required.
  • Review and improve systems and processes within the department to drive continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate for this role will possess a strong supervisory background, with experience managing multiple teams and implementing effective people management techniques. They should have a keen interest in continuous improvement and a drive to elevate operational processes.

Essential Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Strong decision-making abilities, with a capacity for timely and effective judgment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Clear and effective communicator at all levels.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of products and processes within the production area.
  • Proficient in people management, including motivation, development, and communication.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Highly organized with strong influencing abilities.
  • Self-motivated and target-driven.
  • First Aid trained, or willing to undergo First Aid training.
