Communications Operator - NHS
Our client a large NHS organisation require an additional Communications Operative
to work as part of a team operating an IT technical console, responding to calls, monitoring alarms both medical and service, and activating emergency procedures. To ensure the services (which include the implementation of emergency and medical procedures, alarm monitoring and helpdesks) are maintained throughout the 24 hour operation. This requirement is for someone to cover the night shift 4 days per week 10pm - 8am.
The communications staff are required to operate various computerised systems where IT skills are required, to operate all departmental communication systems and undertake all Telecoms clerical duties. The post carries considerable responsibility with information being complex/sensitive and extremely confidential where efficiency, accuracy first class caring attitude are required at all times.
Roll Overview:
- To manage the internal emergency communications in the trust centre and be fully conversant with all hospital emergency procedures, alerting the appropriate team/personnel and accurately recording all emergency calls/incidents. To deal with the emergency procedures which may include, cardiac arrests, trauma, medical emergency, acute stroke, obstetric emergency, major obstetric haemorrhage, neonatal, paediatric emergency, and fire in line with agreed protocols and Trust procedures.
- To operate the internal bleep system for emergency team calls and non-emergency calls including test calls in line with Trust policies and procedures.
3, To give advice to staff on using the Trusts telephony services, including the use of bleeps, radiopagers, and telephone features.
Skills Required:
- Previous telephone based role experience with excellent communications skills
- Experience IT knowledge of Outlook and general excellent IT skills, ideally candidates should have experience of working in a similar NHS environment or similar managing multiple support calls and some experience of medical terminology
- Competent to operate and program bleep system.
- Competent to dispatch appropriate teams in response to emergency calls received.
- Competent to invoke/operate fall back bleep system should main system fail.
- Previous experience in office systems/environment.
This is a contract position for 6 months plus.
Note: This is to cover the night shift 10pm-8am. 4 shifts per week
