Morgan McKinley is seeking an experienced HR Assistant for an established Brighton based employer.

My client is seeking a HR Assistant to act as the first point of contact for employees, providing advice and assistance with queries. Support continuous improvement of HR systems and practices. Offer guidance on policies, procedures, legislation, and employment-related documents such as contracts, terms and conditions, and benefits.

Salary: £30,000k

Location: Brighton

Hybrid: 3 days in the office 2 from home

Hours: Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise managers and staff on HR queries (e.g., absence, terms of employment, policies).
  • Manage absence, welfare issues, and liaise with Occupational Health.
  • Conduct annual Gender Pay Gap reporting and EEA employee checks.
  • Handle maternity, paternity, flexible working, and return-to-work requests.
  • Manage data reporting on sickness, pay, and demographics.
  • Update HR/payroll policies to meet legislative changes.
  • Oversee onboarding and maintain accurate HR systems and records.
  • Administer employee benefits (e.g., childcare, private medical, recognition schemes).
  • Coordinate employee wellbeing and engagement initiatives.
  • Serve as a Mental Health First Aider (MHFA).
  • Conduct exit interviews and support ongoing HR projects.
  • Process departmental invoices and maintain budget spreadsheets.

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of working within an HR department.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Experience in a similar HR role
  • Strong team worker - able to work flexibly and collaboratively in own team and with the organisation.
  • Be confident with all MS Office packages.
