Our Public Sector client is currently looking to recruit a Land & Property Surveyor on an initial 3 month contract, looking to start ASAP.

Purpose of the role:

Efficiently manage land acquisition requests, including seeking land valuations, managing consultation with neighbouring properties and negotiating costs. To maximise quality and performance within the Housing Investment & Asset Management service to carry out pre-arranged and random site inspections, assessing level of quality, timeliness and customer care, and to provide a professional contract management/surveying service across the city

Duties:

  • To prepare for, organise and undertake freehold and leasehold disposals and acquisitions using a variety of resources including external consultants and auctioneers. The process will involve the identification of opportunities, obtaining planning advice, assessing disposal and acquisition options, undertaking valuations, preparing reports for Committee, selection of the marketing approach and appointing agents. To provide advice on potential development opportunities for sites and liaise with internal project teams
  • Responsible for compiling reports from land inspections accurately detailing any issues or potential development opportunities found that could benefit council housing. You will be expected to also detail reasons why areas of land are suitable to sell and give justification for any recommendations for selling and suggested costs.
  • To investigate and find resolution to complaints against the Housing Investment & Asset Management service, considering council interests.
  • To respond to property queries from the public, outside organisations, elected members, client officers and departments, investigate or initiate investigations as necessary and satisfy any need for further action in relation to property ownership, encroachment, party wall issues, Freedom of Information requests etc.

Candidates with the below experience will be preferred:

  • Proven experience of carrying out land/property surveys
  • Experience in Valuation and Commercial Estate
  • Proven experience of identifying building defects.
  • Proven experience of surveying.
  • Proven experience of producing specifications of work in construction.
  • Experience of dealing effectively with concerns or complaints from customers from a range of backgrounds.
  • Experience of local authority procurement methods
  • Experience of producing high quality documents, reports and correspondence.
