We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Auditor with demonstrable experience in internal audits within the public sector. This role involves leading and completing complex audit projects in a large and diverse organisation that is currently facing significant operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute internal audits across various departments, ensuring compliance, risk management, and governance frameworks are robustly assessed.
  • Deliver high-quality audit reports and recommendations, communicating findings clearly to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Work with service teams to understand key risks and provide actionable insights to improve internal controls.
  • Identify areas for operational improvement and provide assurance on business processes.
  • Occasionally attend on-site meetings to collaborate with stakeholders when face-to-face interactions are required to meet audit objectives.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience successfully completing internal audits in public sector organisations.
  • A solid understanding of complex audit processes in large organisations.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management, control, and governance practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence senior management and present audit findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Flexibility to work primarily remotely, with occasional on-site attendance for key meetings or audits.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A relevant professional qualification (e.g., CIA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working in large organisations facing significant operational and strategic challenges.
