Our client is a highly entrepreneurial and rapid growth FMCG business with a turnover of in excess of £100m with significant headroom for future growth both through organic expansion and merger and acquisition activity.

The Opportunity

The Financial Controller role directly supports the Group Finance & Commercial Director for the financial performance of the group. The role will have significant interaction with the Group Accountants in respect of group analysis of the UK entity results plus submitting the month end consolidated group reporting. The main day to day hands on component of the Financial Controller role will be to directly support and influence the UK warehouse, distribution and sales operations for growth and profit expansion.

In addition to supporting the development of more efficient processes, business systems and reporting, a key objective of this role will be to be develop the Finance Business Partner focus working with key UK stakeholders to maximise cashflow, profitability and project implementation for technological improvements.

The role will be suitable for an experience FC and would be an ideal role for someone wanting to be mentored into a future FD position

Strategy

  • Support the Group FD with input to the UK strategy creation and KPIs to support strategic focus
  • Plan for annual timetable of plans / budgets / medium term plans and forecasting in line with set timetables
  • Present the financial plans as part of the business strategy
  • Leadership role to the finance function locally and peer to peer leadership across the Function Mangers at UK
  • Carries out performance assessments for reports and ensure correct training and career development / succession planning on direct Finance team at UK
  • Managing and motivating people to optimise performance and effectiveness both in Finance team and wider UK
  • Full responsibility for preparation of full monthly management accounts for with analysis and explanation of key drivers in the results.
  • Support the Group FD in the annual Budget programme
  • Cashflow forecasting and reporting including analysis on currency exposure to support Group FD in hedging requirements

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a commercially minded qualified accountant, preferably used to working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with time critical reporting deadlines. The ability to spot potential issues but also implement solutions and be willing to support the whole business and not see the role in a Finance silo.

Additionally, the candidate will possess strong leadership skills to develop and support their own Finance team to build a successful, supportive and continual improvement mindset through the whole Finance department
