We are working with a Southwest based Local Authority who are looking for a Group Accountant to provide support to the council. Key responsibilities include budget centralisation, and providing financial support to the service's staffing restructure, to consolidate the council's individual property establishment spend (for example corporate, waste disposal etc).

Location: Southwest England 

Set-up: Hybrid - weekly attendance / 2-days every other week

Rate: £300 - £395 per day via umbrella inside IR35

Duration: Initial 6-months

Hours: Full-time ideally, open to part-time (minimum 3-days a week)

Key outputs:

  • Centralisation of property budgets associated with the establishment of a new Corporate Landlord Model
  • Set up recharging mechanisms where required for specific trading accounts or services funded by ringfenced grant
  • Providing financial support to the service’s staffing restructure
  • Carry out detailed business analysis including cost saving measures in a number of areas
  • Calculating, understanding and articulating all financial implications resulting from the change project

Requirements:

  • Local Government experience essential for initial shortlisting, then thereafter at the client’s discretion
  • Ideally fully qualified Accountant, part-qualified acceptable with relevant experience 
  • Commercial and corporate property experience 
  • Budget centralisation and cost saving experience preferable 
  • Previous experience assisting a council going through a restructure is also desirable
