  • Responsible for preparation of monthly accounts file and schedules
  • Reviewing Trial Balance and investigate Balance Sheet items (Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss account)
  • Monitoring cash flow and cash balances in various accounts
  • Preparing VAT return quarterly, including partial exemption, Tour operating margin scheme, trading subsidiary VAT exemption
  • Ensuring that management information is produced accurately and in accordance with reporting deadlines
  • Preparing Income reports for the Fundraising Teams (Excel V-Lookups, Pivot tables, Power Pivot)
  • Production of Management Accounts (with Variance analysis)
  • Responsible for production of year end files for audit and dealing with audit queries
  • Updating and Improving processes currently in place
  • Monitoring Cash Flow
  • Authorising Payments prepared by Purchase Ledger and Payroll
  • Month end duties include:
  1. Ensure all bank accounts and control accounts are fully reconciled
  2. Preparing lead schedules for all month end balances and adjustments including deferred income, other debtor, expenditure in advance, trade debtors and other creditors, accruals and prepayments
  3. Create and distribute monthly income reports to fundraising departments
  4. Update Management Accounts (Excel) with actual figures

What you'll need to succeed

  • Accountancy related qualification
  • You must have experience of VAT exemption rules
  • Experience of charity accounting, preferably managing restricted and unrestricted funds
  • Extensive experience of working with Xero, including multicurrency
  • Educated to A level (or equivalent) standard
  • Able to develop professional and effective relationships with colleagues and supporters
  • Systematic approach, with an excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage workload, learn new skills and work to deadlines
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Commitment to equal opportunities
