General Manager (Finance & Lending)

Portishead, hybrid remote 50:50 split

Part time, 4 days (30 hours) per week, permanent

£33,600 £36,000 (£42k - £45k FTE) + pension scheme + great annual leave entitlement

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and driven General Manager, coming from within the finance/loans industry, to join a well-established and growing organisation.

Our client is a not-for-profit financial institution, whose goal is to give back to the local community by providing ethical finance to those in need. Established for over 20 years, they serve people who live in the Southwest of England.

Theyre looking for a new General Manager to head up and lead the organisation. This role will be highly varied and will involve all aspects of management, from staff management to forecasting to budgeting to reporting among many other responsibilities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and grow an ethical, not-for-profit organisation that generously gives back to its local community.

The ideal candidate would be somebody who has been in a similar CEO, General Manager, or Operations Manager role in an SME or nonprofit before, has a good understanding or organisational finances, is looking for a new challenge, and is open to working 4 days per week. The role

Day-to-day responsibilities

Line managing senior staff

Dealing with any member complaints

Reporting and attending board meetings

Budgeting, forecasting, and determining the direction of the organisation

Managing specific community development projects

Reviewing, auditing, and revamping policies, procedures, and systems as-and-when necessary

Overseeing finances and statements

Auditing

The Person

Essential

CEO, General Manager, or Operations Manager experience in a similar-sized organisation

Could hit the ground running with a business plan for the next 3, 6, and 12 months

Solid understanding of finances and financial position (although no technical skills required)

Experience in at least one of the following: finance, lending, banking, or other similar/related industry

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Great interpersonal skills, empathy, and leadership skills

Desirable

Line management experience

Not-for-profit/charity experience

Experience reporting to board of directors
