CEO / General Manager (Finance & Lending)

Portishead, hybrid remote 50:50 split

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and driven CEO / General Manager, coming from within the finance/loans industry, to join a well-established and growing organisation.

Our client is a regulated, not-for-profit financial institution, whose goal is to provide ethical savings and loans in their local communities and ensure that everyone has access to fair finance. Established for over 20 years, they serve people who live in the Southwest of England.

They’re looking for a new CEO to head up and lead the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity within an organisation with expansion plans involving a range of partners in local authorities, housing and private business. This role will be highly varied and will involve all aspects of management. Reporting to a Board of Directors and responsible for around 10 staff the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organisation whilst playing a crucial role in its strategic direction.

The ideal candidate would be somebody who has been in a similar CEO, General Manager, or Operations Manager role in a regulated SME or not for profit before, has a good understanding of organisational finances, has staff management experience and is looking for a new challenge. The role

Day-to-day responsibilities

  • Day-to-day running of the organisation, implementing agreed business and operational plans adhering to regulatory and financial controls
  • Motivation and management of a small staff team, most of whom work remotely
  • Ensuring good governance and financial oversight to control costs
  • Analysis of and improvements in operational processes
  • Promoting business development and aligned marketing operations, appropriate technology infrastructure, financial accounting, credit control, resource management, and personnel
  • Reporting to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis and participating in Board meetings
  • Relationship management with key partners and stakeholders, including the PRA and FCA

The Person

Essential

  • CEO, General Manager, or Operations Manager experience in a similar-sized organisation
  • Experience of budgeting, forecasting and reporting
  • Solid understanding of finances and financial position
  • Experience in at least one of the following: finance, lending, banking, or other similar/related industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of using a range of IT platforms
  • Line management and coaching experience
  • Great interpersonal skills, empathy, and leadership skills

Desirable

  • Not-for-profit/charity experience
  • Experience reporting to board of directors
