National Sales Manager

£70,000 - £80,000 + up to 30% annual bonus (paid quarterly) + car allowance & Pension

The role of National Sales Manager is to develop and deliver the sales budget for various sales sectors in the UK while contributing to the future strategic direction of the business.

This role involves leading a team of both external and internal sales representatives for a well-established and growing company known for its high-quality simulation trainers.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years' experience selling devices or consumables within the healthcare sector for a recognized company, preferably having undergone a structured sales training program. You should be capable of selling to all levels within healthcare and healthcare education, including consultant surgeons, and managing a complex product range.

You should hold a degree, preferably with a qualification or experience in medical, nursing, or life sciences, and possess the ability to understand and interpret published journal articles relevant to the field.

Your background should include expertise in sales and sales management, such as consultative selling, key account management, and pipeline management. Strong people management experience in a sales environment, along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels, is crucial.

Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—as well as high numeracy, literacy, and digital literacy are essential. You should be well-organized, with prior experience in planning and preparation, and have the ability to effectively convey this information to the team.

Proficiency in IT and experience working with a CRM system, including forecasting and reporting, is required. Familiarity with Salesforce (CRM system) would be advantageous.

The role offers a mix of home and office-based work. You may spend up to three days a week in the office supporting the inside sales team and working across the business.

Requirements

  • Develop an annual sales strategy aligned with the company's goals and 5-year business plan.
  • Implement annual sales targets, set targets for the team, monitor performance, and motivate the team to achieve these targets.
  • Increase market share in existing markets and maximize new business development opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key contacts, institutions, and corporate partners to influence buying decisions and integrate key products into developing curricula.
  • Manage accounts across various sectors, including the military.
  • Support the Corporate Sales Manager in expanding corporate business in the UK, USA, and international markets.
  • Stay updated on market conditions and competition, providing feedback and recommendations for new product development.
  • Conduct monthly reporting on business unit performance and forecasting.
  • Attend conferences, trade fairs, and exhibitions as needed.
  • Oversee the recruitment, performance, and development of direct reports.
  • Provide direction to the sales team, lead by example, and offer coaching.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management to develop long-term sales strategies.
