We are looking for a Regional Sales Manager for the Southwest and South Wales for one of our Bristol based clients. The role will be home based when not travelling (up to 60% travel both UK and Europe).

The company designs, develops and produces hi-tech packaging solutions for the food industry.

The role

This role will be the first point of contract for every new machine enquiry. You will be supported by technical experts before, during and after meetings by technical experts, either via Teams or in person and you will be responsible for the technical-commercial aspects for the Horizontal, Secondary and Vertical portfolio. This will include prospecting your region, finding new leads, following up on industry campaigns, presenting new enquiries to the back office, ensuring all the data is available to progress on the project, negotiating and closing deals as well as general follow up of customers. Once the equipment has been installed and signed off, responsibility for it is transferred to the local Services teams, with whom you will stay in daily contract to ensure long-term customer satisfaction.

Duties

  • Responsibility for a defined sales area for the Food Horizontal, Secondary and Vertical production lines, identifying the needs for new equipment of existing and new customers
  • Acquisition of new customers within the region and maintaining the relationship with existing customers
  • Market research to find further potential customers
  • Monitoring market trends and competitors within defined sales area
  • Active prospecting and following up on Marketing Campaigns
  • Being part of a KPI driven business
  • Planning and preparing for customer visits and the submission of subsequent visit reports
  • Supporting the back-office teams in preparations of offers
  • Participating and dealing with customers at trade fairs
  • Close collaboration between internal departments (locally and abroad)
  • Preparing reports on all sales activities, including travel expenses, in a timely fashion
  • Managing customers, leads, opportunities within the CRM system
  • Handling contract negotiations with the support of your manager and the various back offices
  • Receiving technical support for the various factories whenever needed, via Teams or in person
  • Ensuring sales margins are on target
  • Close collaboration with your Service colleagues to ensure long term customer satisfaction

The person

  • Minimum of five years sales experience
  • Strong sales experience with capital sales of packaging equipment
  • Knowledge of Horizontal, Secondary and Vertical packaging in the food industry
  • Strong exposure/relationships within the dry food industry
  • Work experience with the technology market leaders (high end products)
  • Experienced in value selling techniques
  • Excellent customer management skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Team spirit and open book mentality
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering would be beneficial
  • IT skills
  • Prepared to travel, both domestic and within Europe, up to 60% of the time
