Project Manager Nuclear Marine Works

ROLE PURPOSE

To support the Construction Director (Marine) to coordinate the integration of shaft liner

secondary lining into the fabrication programme for the liner.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure high levels of engineering control and

appropriate records are maintained during the construction, with emphasis on defect

avoidance and zero defects at completion to ensure Nuclear Safety.

Report progress and performance of the integration activities in regular management team

meetings.

Review contractual and technical information and ensure that any ambiguities or

shortcomings are identified and resolved.

Support the team to develop construction methodology, SSHEQ procedures, RAMS, ITPs, and

programmes.

Obtain suitable resources (Labour, Subcontractors, Plant and Materials) to execute the work

in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with all relevant SSHEQ, contractual and

programme requirements.

Identify any problem areas, agreeing corrective actions with relevant stakeholders and the

Construction Director (Marine). Ensure their implementation.

Ensure that complete and accurate records of the Works are kept.

Develop programmes and forecast budgets, assess actual programme and productivity

achieved and review weekly, acting where appropriate and reporting any changes.

Work closely with the rest of the team to promote effective teamwork and coordination.

Provide regular and ad-hoc reports as requested by senior management.

Comply and adhere to all matters pertaining to Quality, Safety & Health and Environment

related to the job scope and workplace as required by the Company and the Client.

Typically working 10-hour dayshift pattern Monday to Friday but weekend working may be

required from time to time.

You will be expected to travel between numerous locations to ensure the effective delivery of

the Works.

DIMENSIONS Financial:

Understand the contractual requirements of the project and highlight change.

Raise contractual issues through the Commercial Manager and respond proactively to

client issues

Attend on-site change control meetings and risk reduction meetings when requested.

Organisational:

You will be collaborating and coordinating between secondary lining agent, fabrication package

manager, fabrication integration manager, fabrication sub-contractor SPM.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Support the Construction Director (Marine) to coordinate the integration of shaft liner

secondary lining into the liner fabrication programme.

Knowledge of BS6164.

Providing safety leadership.

Ensuring all construction activities comply with legislation.

Undertake regular assessment of new risks and hazards and implement control measures.

Carry out regular site inspections and promote zero tolerance of unsafe behaviours.

Rigorously promote Nuclear Safety.

Be responsible for the quality of your own work.

Ensure continuous improvement and implementation of lessons learned.

Ability to produce and authorise method statements and risk assessments.

Identify and manage risk and ensure control measures are followed.

Proactively take measures to eliminate/ minimise potential environmental impacts.

Demonstrate a personal commitment to environmental issues.

Actively participate in the identification of Environmental hazards and implement site control

and preventive measures.

Client/Communication:

Act in the best interests of the Project in all dealings with the client, suppliers, workforce and

public.

Commercial:

Understand the contract requirements and the opportunities and risks therein.

Monitor Plant, Labour and Material use and reconcile against original budgets (provided by

others.)

PERSONAL QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Civil Engineering or Construction Management qualification to ONC/HNC/Degree level and have at least 10 years relevant professional experience.

Must hold a valid suitable grade of CSCS card.

Membership of a relevant professional body is ideal but not essential.

Managerially and technically proficient with a good understanding of other engineering disciplines and have the professional credibility to engage and inspire others.

The individual should have a desire to continuously pursue innovation and development.
