An award-winning global practice for sustainable architecture and design is seeking an experienced Principal Designer with expertise in CDM regulations to join their esteemed team in Bristol.

The Principal Designer's Role

The successful Principal Designer will join a forward-thinking team within this globally recognised architecture and design practice. As a Principal Designer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all projects comply with CDM regulations, promoting safety, and integrating sustainable design principles across diverse projects.

Responsibilities of the Principal Designer

  • Provide comprehensive Principal Designer services, including compiling pre-construction information, managing design risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with design teams, clients, and contractors to develop and implement effective risk management and safety strategies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure safety standards are met and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead CDM workshops and training sessions for design teams, promoting best practices in risk management and sustainable design.
  • Review and approve construction phase plans, ensuring all necessary safety measures are in place and adhered to during the project execution.

The Principal Designer

  • Degree qualified in Architecture, Construction, or Engineering.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • Membership with IOSH or APS.
  • Extensive experience in delivering Principal Designer services within a consultancy or architectural practice.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable design principles and their integration into projects.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
