Role Overview
The TeamTSR Legal are proud to be working with a leading national law firm who now have 2 new opportunities for Credit Controllers to join their team in Bristol. The Finance Department is based across London and Bristol and comprises four key teams with each team being led by a Manager reporting to the Head of Finance. This role is part of a wider Credit Control team, with the Manager and other team members based in London, while this position is located in the Bristol office.
The RoleThis role involves supporting legal consultancy operations in managing working capital efficiently, reducing lockup and debtors, and ensuring compliance with cash collection processes and policies to maximise revenue. Close collaboration with key stakeholders across the organisation is integral to the role.
Working closely with the Credit Manager, this position focuses on delivering results-oriented collection services, offering tailored credit control solutions, enhancing existing systems, and contributing to the strategic development of the Credit Control and wider Finance team. The role has a particular emphasis on insurance sector practices.
Responsibilities Include:
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key client contacts to facilitate efficient recovery.
- Conducting proactive reviews and follow-up actions to manage outstanding debts.
- Producing debtor analysis for key clients and ensuring compliance with client-specific protocols and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Liaising with partners and client leads to address issues, proposing and implementing resolutions where required.
- Providing reconciliations and ad-hoc debtor analysis support for legal professionals.
- Identifying problem debts and ensuring compliance with the escalation policy.
- Meeting monthly cash collection and aging targets for the team and individual performance.
- Adhering to internal credit control procedures, including using credit control software such as ARCS, and following best practices.
- Conducting regular meetings with partners and revenue controllers to streamline the working capital cycle and implement appropriate recovery and prevention strategies.
- Contributing to internal policy reviews and know-how development to enhance practices from client onboarding to recovery.
- Handling ad-hoc responsibilities as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
- Minimum of 2 years' Credit Control experience, ideally within the legal or insurance sector.
- Expertise in managing varied commercial collections.
- Familiarity with financial controls and Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain a broad perspective.
- Confidence and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with legal professionals and clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- A growth mindset, with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads proactively.
- Advanced IT skills, with experience using systems such as Aderant and ARCS (or similar).
- Commercial awareness and the ability to contribute strategically to team objectives.
