Special needs teacher required for maternity cover

Zen Educate is looking to appoint a teacher to take on a maternity cover contract for a special needs school in Gloucester. This will be teaching a small cohort of students at year 6 level (8 students), all whom have been diagnosed with either SEMH, ASC or ADHD. There is a full time TA to support and this post is full time and starting asap. The school are looking for a teacher that knows the KS2 curriculum really well and can handle the challenges that such students can present with.

The school, which is part of a wider group of academies in the south west, has a great team in place that all focus on giving students the best possible outcome of their school day, despite the personal struggles that they may be dealing with. Its important that the right teacher see value and potential in all students and hold strong boundaries but have lots of empathy.

Marking and planning is expected as part of this work and the right teacher will need to have strong communication skills to ensure that student progress is reported to other members of staff at the school as well as the parents of students.

UK QTS is required for this post and we welcome applications from either special needs experienced teachers, or those from a mainstream setting looking to do something a little different from standard primary teaching.

This work would suit someone that has a keen interest in mental health or neurodivergence and wants to instil self esteem and confidence to those that feel they can't achieve in school.

To work with children an enhanced DBS on the update service is required, either via one already held or by applying for one as part of your application.
