Our client, a leading company in the Defence and Security sector, is currently seeking a Safety Engineer to join their team in Stevenage or Bristol. Key Responsibilities:
- Optimize safety assurance efforts for technically complex missile systems, balancing safety against performance requirements.
- Analyze system operations and determine the most cost-effective ways to demonstrate hazard mitigation.
- Develop and construct a convincing safety case with appropriate evidence, considering time and budget constraints.
- Use a variety of techniques (Hazard Analysis, Functional Failure Analysis, FTA, etc.) to support safety evaluations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate safety and systems engineering processes.
- Deliver comprehensive Safety Case Reports, including supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with UK and international safety standards, particularly Def Stan 00-056.
- Contribute to internally funded research projects and safety-focused investigations.
- Apply your knowledge of electronic systems (or other engineering areas) to address associated safety issues.
- Collaborate with customers to ensure their safety requirements are met to their satisfaction.
What We're Looking For:
- A deep understanding of how hazard analysis and safety evaluation processes integrate with the system engineering lifecycle.
- Proven experience in delivering comprehensive Safety Case Reports, along with supporting documentation such as Hazard Analysis, Functional Failure Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
- Strong knowledge of UK and international safety and systems engineering standards, particularly Def Stan 00-056.
- Familiarity with complex electronic systems and their safety challenges. Experience in other engineering disciplines (e.g., software, design, manufacturing) will also be considered, provided the candidate demonstrates the right skill set.
- A proven track record of working effectively in multidisciplinary and multinational teams, both internally and with customers.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ideally, a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
