Five Education is recruiting for a committed and compassionate One-to-One Teaching Assistant to join the staff team at a mainstream primary school in Yeovil. The role will be based within a specialised SEN base, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. This is a school known for its strong ethos of care and inclusivity.

We are looking for someone who is patient, adaptable, and driven to make a positive impact in the lives of children who may face challenges in education. While prior school experience is beneficial, it is not essential. We welcome applicants from care or support work backgrounds who can bring valuable transferable skills to this role.

This position involves providing 1:1 support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Pupils may have diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, or other learning difficulties. Your role will involve supporting these pupils to access the curriculum, manage behaviour, and develop essential social skills.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (term time only).


Key Responsibilities:

Provide consistent one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs

Assist the pupil in remaining focused and engaged during lessons

Adapt and deliver activities in line with the pupil's learning level and EHCP

Help reinforce behavioural expectations in line with school policies

Build positive relationships with the pupil, staff, and wider school community

Support class teachers in achieving learning and personal development goals

Essential Criteria:

Patient, flexible, and resilient approach to supporting children

Willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of children with SEND, Autism, and SEMH

Right to work in the UK (valid visa required if applicable)

Up-to-date references and Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one*

*If you do not currently hold a DBS on the Update Service, Five Education can assist with the application process. The cost is £62.70 and will be refunded after 20 days of work.

Pay Information:
All staff are paid via PAYE, ensuring transparency with no hidden deductions or fees. Daily rate includes holiday pay.
