Reed is representing a leading logistics company in search of an Ocean Import Agent to oversee the end-to-end process of ocean freight import operations at a modern facility in Bristol. Day-to-day of the role:
- Prepare and process all necessary import documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs clearance requirements.
- Coordinate with carriers, shipping lines, and logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Track shipments and provide regular status updates to customers.
- Act as the primary contact for customers regarding import shipments, advising on shipping options and import regulations, as well as addressing any issues.
- Prepare quotes, invoices, and billing for customers, ensuring all costs are accurately accounted for.
- Negotiate rates with carriers and other service providers to maximise profitability.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous Ocean Freight experience, particularly within import operations.
- Good understanding and experience of HMRC Import procedures.
- High attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and efficiently manage workload.
- Experience in a fast-paced office environment with excellent customer relations skills.
