Job Title: Senior Associate - Construction Litigation

Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Associate to specialize in Construction Litigation. This newly created role offers the opportunity to autonomously manage a varied caseload of contentious intermediate and multi-track value commercial and personal construction disputes, from receipt to resolution.

As part of their expanding Commercial Litigation function, their team specializes in intermediate and multi-track commercial claims across a broad spectrum of policyholders. You would be working closely with a Principal Associate, you will also supervise and mentor junior colleagues, helping them develop their technical construction knowledge and legal expertise. You will handle cases from inception to adjudication, arbitration, mediation, or litigation, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of construction disputes, including litigation, adjudication, and arbitration.
  • Provide legal advice on JCT contract issues, the Construction Act 1996, and other key industry frameworks.
  • Represent clients in County Court, High Court, and Technology & Construction Court proceedings.
  • Accurately assess prospects of success and effectively communicate advice to clients.
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members, delegating work and supporting their development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality, client-focused legal services.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Significant experience in construction litigation, including both commercial and personal disputes.
  • Strong understanding of JCT disputes, the Pre-Action Protocol for Construction & Engineering Disputes, and the Construction Act 1996.
  • Excellent knowledge of civil procedure rules and pre-action protocols.
  • Experience in resolving cases through adjudication, arbitration, mediation, and court proceedings.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to advise clients in a clear and practical manner.
  • Ability to work independently while delivering high-quality results under deadlines and targets.
