We are seeking a Head of Legal to join our client's growing legal team in Bristol. This role offers a competitive salary and hybrid working arrangements

Job Profile: As the Commercial Head of Legal, you will lead the Commercial Legal function, supporting bids and day-to-day legal matters. You will ensure compliance with legal policies and regulatory requirements, providing expert legal guidance in corporate governance, compliance, and risk management. This role requires a deep understanding of complex legal assignments and the ability to influence across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Commercial Legal function, supporting bids and day-to-day legal matters.
  • Ensure compliance with legal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide legal guidance and expertise in corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
  • Protect the interests of the company, its shareholders, and other stakeholders.
  • Achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Commercial Solicitor with at least 12 years PQE (gained either In-House or at a Top Tiered Law Firm).
  • Experience in providing legal advice on complex, highly regulated projects.
  • Knowledge of Export Control and UK, EU, and US Sanctions Regimes.
  • Experience in instructing external Counsel when necessary.
  • Previous experience in the Nuclear Sector is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge in contracts and torts law.
  • Experience in the advisory and legal management of complex industrial schemes (JVs, consortium, partnerships).
  • Experience in drafting and understanding complex IP agreements.
  • Knowledge of NECs is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage priorities.
  • Successful background in an international group with cultural diversity.
