Student Support Mentor - Bristol
Job Description
Purpose of Role:As a Student Support Mentor, you will support students in achieving their full potential by providing academic, emotional, and behavioural support under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team. This role is a great opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of students in Bristol and contribute to their success both academically and socially.
Duties:
- Work with students on a one-to-one, two-to-one, or small group basis as a Student Support Mentor to support their academic and SEMH progress.
- Assist, follow, and lead student activities and project-based learning on or off-site, in line with individual student timetables.
- Manage challenging behaviours, with full training provided to enable effective care and support, including Team Teach training if required.
- Participate in on and off-site activities, including physical activities such as football, basketball, gym work, and cooking. A decent level of mobility and fitness is required for this education and training role.
- Report any safeguarding concerns in line with safeguarding reporting procedures.
- Follow all policies and procedures to the highest standard as part of your role as a Student Support Mentor.
- Promote and reward good behaviour.
- Support students' personal targets to make positive academic and SEMH progress.
- Complete daily reports of the highest standard, ensuring timely submission to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Upload daily Seesaw entries based on students' individual targets as part of your education and training responsibilities.
- Promote involvement in enrichment activities to improve skills and readiness for life, further supporting their education and training.
What We're Looking For in a Student Support Mentor in Bristol:
- Experience working with students with SEMH needs or in similar roles.
- A proactive, compassionate approach with strong communication skills.
- Ability to support students with behavioural challenges, building positive relationships.
- A willingness to undertake relevant training, including Team Teach.
- Own transport required due to the nature of the role.
