Deputy Head of Western Operations

Location: Port of Bristol, UK (On-site)

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 + £3,900 Car Allowance

My client is a leading provider of end-to-end finished vehicle logistics solutions, working with major automotive manufacturers, rental operators, leasing companies, and large fleet organizations. As a company built on strong values of trust and operational excellence, they are seeking an experienced Deputy Head of Western Operations to oversee a diverse portfolio of automotive customers at Port of Bristol/Royal Portbury Dock.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in managing operations and customer engagement across the Western division, ensuring efficiency, KPI achievement, and seamless cross-operation planning.

Responsibilities

As the Deputy Head of Western Operations, you will be responsible for the operational performance of all activities related to my client’s services in the region. Your key duties will include:

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring operations meet agreed KPI and SLA targets.
  • Liaising with internal teams, customers, Port Authorities, hauliers, and suppliers to drive operational excellence.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day execution of logistics services, ensuring performance and efficiency targets are met.
  • Supporting and leading strategic planning and operational improvements.
  • Driving a high-performance and collaborative team culture.
  • Producing reports in line with internal and client requirements.
  • Developing and delivering business strategies to align with wider company goals.
  • Ensuring all operations remain compliant with industry regulations and best practices.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • 2+ years of experience in Operations and/or Account Management, ideally within the automotive logistics sector.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing teams, including performance monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety best practices.
  • A proven track record in strategic planning and change management in high-volume logistics.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills.
  • Experience in process documentation, work instruction creation, and planning.
  • Familiarity with Lean tools and operational efficiency techniques.
  • Proficiency in IT systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Project management expertise and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
