Reed are representing a client in search of a dedicated Shift Supervisor to oversee operations in their busy yard located in Avonmouth. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the loading and unloading of vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety and weight regulations, and maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency throughout the shift.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct shift briefings to clearly communicate roles and responsibilities to each team member.
- Oversee the safe and timely loading and unloading of vehicles in the yard.
- Ensure all vehicles are correctly weighed and compliant with legal weight limits before departure.
- Manage the accurate picking of customer orders and ensure any errors are promptly reported.
- Maintain the highest standards of quality control, reporting any damage or issues to the late shift manager.
- Input data into the routing system and adjust vehicle loads to achieve optimal routing solutions.
- Communicate effectively with other managers and team members about stock levels, operational challenges, and compliance issues.
- Conduct end-of-shift reviews, including securing the site and ensuring all areas are clean and tidy.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a logistics or warehouse setting.
- Strong understanding of safety and weight regulations for vehicle loading.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead a team effectively and maintain high standards under pressure.
- Proficient in using routing systems and data entry.
