You will undertake various work-based placements within the Air Environment. These will include assignments within the DE&S Aircraft Systems & Platforms delivery teams, industry partners and at a Front Line Command organisation facing DE&S Aircraft Systems & Platforms delivery teams. Placements will support personal development, scheme completion and a pathway to application for professional registration at Incorporated Engineer level within 12 months of completing the scheme.

Once you’ve successfully completed your scheme, you’ll be ready to join an aircraft systems and platforms delivery team and start your career as a professional engineer within the Air environment. With support provided at all levels throughout your career, we’ll help you reach your full potential as a Professional (Chartered) Engineer.

Please note: DE&S is currently undergoing a design review and therefore the area terminology and your placements within them are subject to change.

Initially, you’ll be based at our headquarters in Bristol but while you’re on the scheme you may undertake placements in a variety of locations across the UK. Hybrid working is available but attendance at our Bristol site will be required on a routine basis (as determined by your manager). Please note: Because of the classification of some of the information related to certain projects, some work-based placements may be open to Sole UK Nationals?only.

Your place of work will be MOD Abbey Wood, Bristol, BS34 8JH. You will be required to attend the office regularly, at the request of your Scheme Manager or Placement Supervisor. This attendance will be at your own expense and costs for travel or accommodation will not be reimbursed.
