On this graduate scheme, you’ll have the opportunity to work in different roles across a range of equipment and technology environments, such as supporting the safety of new ships, weapon systems, or updates of battle tanks that are already in service. There are huge variety of areas that you can get involved in at DE&S.

The placements will span the engineering lifecycle; from early concept, next generation platforms and technologies, to acquisition and acceptance of new equipment, supporting in service systems through to the safe environmental disposal of obsolete equipment.

Once you’ve successfully completed the scheme, you may be offered a permanent position within one of our engineering areas. With support provided at all levels throughout your career, we’ll help you reach your full potential as a Professional (Chartered) Engineer.

Initially, you’ll be based at our headquarters in Bristol but while you’re on the scheme you may have the opportunity to undertake placements in a variety of locations across the UK. Hybrid working is available but attendance at our Bristol site will be required on a routine basis (as determined by your manager).

Please note: Because of the classification of some of the information related to certain projects, some work-based placements may be open to Sole UK Nationals?only.

Your place of work will be MOD Abbey Wood, Bristol, BS34 8JH. You will be required to attend the office regularly, at the request of your Scheme Manager or Placement Supervisor. This attendance will be at your own expense and costs for travel or accommodation will not be reimbursed.
