Customer Accounts Manager | Remote work with frequent travel required to all customer sites, across the UK and company head office in Brighton | 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to meet agreed objectives | £50,000-£55,000

Our client is a UK technology company with team members based across the country. They solve through-life acquisition and support management issues for the Defence and related sectors, supporting their teams to work strategically, collaboratively and effectively to maintain and streamline the delivery of military and industrial capability.

You will build long-term, trusted relationships with customers, managing accounts to drive upsell opportunities and ensure contract renewals. You will focus on the existing customer base to drive sales growth and retention, while also developing new business opportunities as directed. You will expand relationships with customers across the MoD and broader defence supply chain, achieving account objectives and business goals.

Collaborating with Customer Success counterparts as part of the Customer Engagement Team, you will report monthly on ROI and customer retention, and transition new business into long-term accounts as needed. This role requires adherence to company values, mission statements, and processes.

The ideal candidate will have a military or defence related background; and be able to build relationships easily and be able to hold conversations with a range of stakeholders from senior military personnel to commercial/finance teams, to front line users.

You will ideally be based in the South West as you will predominantly support customers in Yeovil and Abbey Wood, Bristol. If you are not based in the South West, you must be prepared to travel to the SW on a very regular basis.

Are you the right person for the job?

Essential:

  • Experience in a customer focused role with strong business-to-business input and a proven ability to build strong and effective customer relationships
  • A background in a defence related business
  • Demonstrable experience in meeting sales targets and objectives
  • Proven experience working within a dynamic and changing environment, with excellent judgment and decision-making abilities under pressure
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to engage in multiple initiatives and opportunities at any one time

Desirable:

  • A recognised professional qualification in sales or marketing would be a distinct advantage
  • An understanding of advertising, digital and CRM marketing, with previous experience of supporting activities in these areas

What will your role look like?

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of customer accounts to ensure long-term success and growth targets are achieved:
    • Achieve assigned growth quotas in designated accounts.
    • Liaise with key Company staff, specifically the marketing team, to ensure marketing activities support the overall accounts.
  • Develop adjacent-square business opportunities as agreed and directed, transitioning the opportunity into either existing accounts or where appropriate a designated new account
  • Develop positive and trusted relationships to generate new sales by making use of the existing and potential customer networks
  • Lead negotiations on existing customer contracts for renewals ensuring appropriate commercial arrangements, NDAs and contracts are appropriately in place
  • Liaise with Customer Success Managers to handle customer requirements
  • Report monthly on the status of transactions, accounts, and sales
  • Support the marketing effort at trade shows, marketing events and marketing briefings, as directed
